Artwork Inventory
Having updated artwork inventory is essential for keeping track of your art. This is also good practice when you need to provide galleries, art consultants, or collectors your available work in a timely manner.
The information you want to keep nearby and easily accessible is:
Image of artwork
Title
Medium
Size with/without framing
Year completed
Artist Price
Approximate weight (for shipping)
Location (if on loan, exhibition, storage)
While your work is waiting to be sold it is important that you store it properly. Many artists have a buyer purchase their work, only to have to return the sale due to improper storage. Instead of laying work on top of one another, try to store them in a place with shelving where the artwork can be left standing. This should be an area where the artwork will be free of dust, debris (no one wants your favorite pet’s fur stuck to their artwork!), and extreme temperatures.
