Niche

Now is the time to think about your niche (the word no one knows how to pronounce!). Niche describes the process by which you sell to a specific group within your market. The easiest way to visualize this is to create an Ideal Customer Avatar, or your ICA. 

You may be saying, “But I want to sell to EVERYONE, I don’t want to limit myself!” That is completely understandable, but by creating your ICA you can really speak to that ideal person when you are marketing yourself either through your website or social media. People invest in your artwork because they feel a connection to YOU. As you evolve as an artist and business owner, your niche may evolve as well. Just remember it doesn’t need to be perfect, you just need to get started. So, let’s have some fun and get going!

• What is their hair and eye color?

• What is their relationship status?

• Where do they reside and why?

• What is their annual income?

• How would their friends and family describe them?
