Angelique Bacia is a self-taught contemporary abstract painter who lives and works in San Diego, California. Angelique has been creating art in some form or another throughout her life, but it was not until Brexit that she became a full time painter.

Living in England at the time, the ugliness and noise of Brexit compelled Angelique to try to inject some positivity and quiet back into the world. Driven with the same thirst for knowledge that previously allowed her to write, edit, perform in and produce a comedic web series about vampires, Angelique threw herself into learning everything she could about painting. Then using that knowledge, she took oil to canvas, chose a positive word and abstracted how that word felt, trusting it would come through.

Inspired and influenced by Gerhard Richter's Weiss and Grey paintings, as well as works by British artist Jessica Zoob, the concept of quieting noise has become the obsessive focus of Angelique's work. Having switched to acrylics and continuously educating herself, her goal with every work is to tame a loud canvas into something calm and quiet.

Angelique holds a degree in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University. She has most recently exhibited in the Art Museum of South Texas and has shown in galleries in Camarillo, Oceanside, and Encinitas. Angelique's work has also been shown in several on-line publications including FVM Global Magazine.⠀
